We are selling our Seattle home. See the video here. It’s wild. We thought we would live here forever to be honest. It is a bit of a complicated story.

Our Story

We bought our house at 2112 E Shelby St back in 2016. I had just gone through a very serious surgery and my wife and I wanted to start a new chapter. I had owned condos for most of my adult life. This time around, we we thought we would buy a home.

Montlake Cut

The house is on the Montlake Cut. For those of you unfamiliar with Seattle, the Montlake Cut connects Lake Washington to Lake Union. It is a rarely available highly coveted location. Every year on the weekend of Opening Day for Boating, thousands of boats travel through the Cut before and after the crew races (known by locals as the Windermere Cup).

After purchasing, we started a 9 month remodel. Here are some before and after pics:

This is what the dinning area looked like before.

Here is the after photo. We opened up a wall and created a long sense of space

It’s complicated because this home is tough to leave. There were a lot of memories made here. We lost my Dad just before we finished the remodel in 2016. My goal was to have a place for him to sit and watch the boats go by while he was here in Seattle for a visit. Sadly we never had an opportunity to show him the finished product. He would be proud of the house and the time we spent on the remodel. Despite such a tough outcome, following the remodel we had an abundance of wonderful memories as well.

Family and Friends

We entertained lots of friends and family in our kitchen. As most of you know, I’m a big cook. Every detail of this kitchen was carefully designed. I enjoyed every moment and will be forever grateful. Thanksgiving and Christmas were always at our place and it was a joy to entertain family.

What We Will Miss

I think what we will miss most is the convenience of the house. It only takes 6 minutes to get to Downtown Seattle or Bellevue. We enjoyed walking to the Husky Football/Basketball games and most of all, we enjoyed being on the water. I will always remember the sound of crew boats gliding by the house at 5am in the morning when the world was quiet and I was starting my work.

We will also miss the natural light, the back yard and watching the bridge go up and down during the day. I’ll leave you with some more photos. This home will be missed. I’m excited to meet the next family that will enjoy this place for years to come.
